So the first book I bought was in Waterstones in Oxford! And that book is:
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Here's the blurb:
Clay Jensen returns home to find a strange package with his name on it. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker - his classmate and first love - who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
Hannah's voice explains there are thirteen reasons why she killed herself. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out why.
All through the night, Clay keeps listening - and what he discovers changes his life...
Forever.
I don't know about you guys, but I think this book sounds extremely intriguing. It sounds mysterious, which I really like! This book will probably make me cry, but I cannot wait to read it.
The next book I also bought in Waterstones in Oxford. It is:
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Here's the blurb:
A cold February morning... A snowy road... And suddenly all of Mia's choices are gone.
Except one.
As alone as she'll ever be, Mia must make the most difficult choice of all.
I have been wanting this book for so long. I saw the trailer for the film and it looks beautiful. I am probably also going to cry at this book...but oh well! I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it.
I also bought this book in Oxford. It is:
True Fire by Gary Meehan
Here's the blurb:
THE MISSION
Her sister stolen. Her grandfather murdered. Her home burned to the ground. At just 16, her life destroyed. Now, Megan wants revenge.
THE ENEMY
But the men who took Megan's precious twin are no ordinary soldiers. The brutal witches, armour-clad and tattooed with the mark of the True, will stop at nothing to take back the power they once had.
THE DECEPTION
Desperate for a way to destroy them, Megan uncovers a terrifying lie. A lie that will cast doubt on everything she has ever known, and everyone she has ever trusted. A lie that will put Megan at the heart of the greatest war her world has ever seen...
Yes, okay, I'll admit it...one of the main reasons I bought this book is because the main character has the same name as me. It's not often my name's in a book! But other than that, this book sounds so action-packed!!!
The next book was also bought in Oxford. It is:
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Here's the blurb:
It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.
Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.
Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?
Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

This cover gets me every time... It is just beautiful! My step-sister and I have a bit of an obsession with galaxy print, so this cover strikes me as perfection. That blurb sounds so intriguing. I do like sci-fi, so I cannot wait to get started on this book.
This next book was also bought in Oxford, but in a different area! It is:
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Here's the blurb:
When the lift cranks open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he's not alone - an army of boys welcomes him to the Glade, an encampment at the centre of a terrible maze. The Gladers have no idea why they're there, or what's happened to the world outside. And following the arrival of a girl with a message, they must find a way out - or die.
That's right guys, I'm jumping on the Maze Runner bandwagon. I've heard nothing but good things about this book, and cannot wait to read this series!
Yes, you guess, the next book is also from Oxford... It is:
Eve & Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate
Here's the blurb:
Love has never had much of a place in the life of 16-year-old Evening Spiker, but being the daughter of a billionaire genetic scientist has other perks. Like a private hospital where you can recover from near-fatal road accidents. And a hot surfer boy to push your wheelchair.
While Eve is healing, her mother sets her an irresistible challenge: to use a cutting-edge virtual reality system to design the perfect boy. It's the chance of a lifetime. The chance to play God.
But she isn't just playing. What Eve doesn't know is that her mother's research is about more than saving lives...
It's about creating them.
This book sounds like such a unique love story, I can't wait to get my hands on it. I haven't heard of many people reading it, but I'm hoping it'll be good!
This final book isn't from Oxford, but from Bath! It is:
The One Safe Place by Tania Unsworth
Here's the blurb:
Devin doesn't remember life before the world got hot; he has grown up farming the scorched earth with his grandfather in their remote valley. When his grandfather dies, Devin heads for the city. Once there, among the stark glass buildings, he finds scores of children, just like him, living alone on the streets. They tell him rumors of a place for abandoned children, with unlimited food and toys and the hope of finding a new family. But only the luckiest get there.
An act of kindness earns Devin an invitation to the home, but it s soon clear that it s no paradise. As Devin investigates the intimidating administrator and the zombie-like sickness that afflicts some children, he discovers the home s horrific true mission. The only real hope is escape, but the place is as secure as a fortress.

I haven't heard of anyone else reading this book, but as soon as I saw it in Waterstones and read the blurb, I could not resist. It sounds so unique and the cover is beautiful.
So there is my book haul! Yay!! I am extremely excited to read these books! Hope you enjoyed this post. Adios!

Ooh! ISA nt to read 13 Reasons Why, If I Stay and These Broken Dtars! I can't wait for the movies of If I Stay and The Maze Runner to come out; I saw movie posters for those when I went to the movies yesterday, and I would not fangirling until my friends dragged me into the theater.
ReplyDeletexoxo Morning
Hahaha, the only reason I knew about If I Stay and the Maze Runner is because I saw the trailers for the films!! But I definitely have to read the books before I see the films...
